West Ham and Plaistow NDC
2008
Signage programme for a park and community centre in West Ham, East London, commissioned by West Ham and Plaistow New Deal for Communities. The project provides a deprived area in East London with new community facilities for education and play.
Ornamental leaves play with the notion of ‘Grassroots’, and translate the fact that the architecture is ‘overgrown’ by the park into a playful graphic element. It is repeatedly used to clearly mark the entrance to the Grassroots community centre and at the entrances to the park. Materials: stainless steel and unpolished bronze.
