The Fortress display at the eastern wall walk of the Tower of London explores the Tower’s defense weaponry and strategies during the middle ages. Seen by mostly foreign visitors, the exhibition department at Historic Royal Palaces adopted a playful yet informative interpretation strategy. Due to language barriers for many of the international visitors, it relies mainly on analogue pictorial and acoustic information, supported with short lines of English text. The exhibition graphics in this permanent display were designed to withstand two million visitors a year.
