London Borough of Croydon
2015
The so far largest highstreet improvement programme we got involved in, consisting of a number of restaurants that line a busy thoroughfare towards the north and some small shops and businesses on a quieter road and inside a 1960s parade. Working with landscaping practice Hassell and We Made That architects we devised a number of small scale interventions to enhance the street presence of the shops and restaurants, as well as facilitating pedestrian access.
Besides a number of shopfronts we created a visual identity for the area consisting of a number of patterns that played the theme of ‘restaurants’ and ‘village’. The patterns have been designed by Jenny Bowers, and screenprinted by local youth onto hoardings and tiles under the supervision of Lucy Bainbridge.
