Crystal Palace Dinosaurs

London Borough of Bromley
2017

We are happy to have had the opportunity to work on the interpretation strategy for the famous dinosaur sculptures at Crystal Palace Park. In collaboration with Lynn Kinnear Landscape Architects we developed a strategy for a subtle signage scheme. All signage devices attach to already existing features of the landscape, avoiding additional structures and further clutter.
The content – skillfully researched and written by Anna Faherty, with support by the Friends of the Dinosaurs – is carefully spread across the site, enticing the visitor to explore and discover information as they go along. The signs are made of etched patinated brass for maximum longevity. In addition a 15m long timeline has been routed into the timber handrails of a cast iron bridge, an original feature of the 1854 Park as conceived by Joseph Paxton.
