TWELVE HALLS
Twelve Halls is a collection of built and unbuilt projects by Stirling Prize winner Níall McLaughlin Architects, first published in 2018 on the occasion of the practice’s contribution to the 16th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. The present 2nd edition has been published to accompany Níall’s presentation at the Barbican in March 2025.
The word hall embodies the idea of people coming together to express a shared identity. The book describes twelve simple spaces designed for gathering, each one with a ritual at its heart. They are rooms for dining, storytelling, music, drama, religious rituals and playing sports.
Each project is accompanied by an essay by Níall McLaughlin, and includes drawings, photographs and images.
