Science Museum
2016
October 2016 saw the opening of Wonderlab – the Statoil Gallery*, the new interactive children’s gallery at the Science Museum in London. The design by muf architecture/art has been conceived as a scientific playground, in which kids and their adult company are invited to freely roam and experiment with the exhibits, facing as little restriction as possible.
Our interpretation design extends the invitation to touch, play and experiment by using a distinct palette of materials, that, while extremely robust, awake curiosity about each respective topic. Exhibit labels have been skillfully illustrated by Andrew Rae to playfully explain complex scientific phenomena and the functioning of the exhibits. All labels have been fired in vitreous enamel to withstand hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
