Commissioned just before COVID, we were able to complete our work on the redesign of the signage for Brixton Recreation Centre in 2024. The final design used what was still in reasonable state of the original signage by George Finch and his team, dating from 1985, and updated it with new back lighting, as well as some slight repositioning of the indivdual elements.
The signage on the elevations has been complemented by a new wayfinding scheme, including a set of new pictogrammes based on the original symbol of the Centre. To enhance the rather dark public concourse, a number of lightboxes have been provided, that show a rotating display of photography related to Brixton Rec, in collaboration with Photofusion.
